ABOUT THE EVENT /

The Niles Canyon Stroll & Roll is a biennial event where Highway 84 (Niles Canyon Road) is closed to vehicular traffic. This is an opportunity for people to walk and bike safely through the canyon with their friends and family.

The Stroll & Roll began in 2015 by Alameda County Supervisors Richard Valle and Scott Haggerty in an effort to promote an initiative to create a Class 1 Trail through the Niles Canyon.

SCHEDULE /

7 AM - 8 AM

Road closed to all vehicles, open only to cyclists. 

8 AM - 2 PM

Road open to all pedestrians and bicyclists
to "stroll & roll." 

10 AM - 2 PM

 

 

 

 

 

 

Food Trucks open at Fremont and Sunol Staging Areas. Or visit local cafes in Niles or Sunol.

ROAD CLOSURE POINTS

Fremont Side: Road will be closed at Old Canyon Road and Niles Canyon Road

​

Sunol Side: Road will be closed at Main Street and Niles Canyon Road,

and at Main Street and the Westbound On Ramp to SR-84

​

Palomares: Road will be closed on Niles Canyon Road and Palmores Road

REST STOPS

​

There will be 2 rest stops within the canyon that will have portable restrooms, water, and chairs
